Driftwood MMC - Year 1 - Winter - Dowrick
Annie’s been feeling restless ever since she bacame a teenager. Her olders sisters are both all married and moved out, her wise old grandfather’s passed away, and her parents are busy fussing over her brother’s potential marriage to Rose Rudhall.
She keeps wondering - is this all there is to life? Find some boy to marry, have children, get them married off too, maybe catch a few fish along the way…? No, she wants to make the most of her life. That night, when some merchants are visiting, she exchanges a few coins and boards a ship headed for the Wainao Empire.
Finley is both rebellious and a commitment-phobe, so in theory if he doesn’t want to marry Rose he won’t, even if his family are being very pushy about it… his grandfather’s ghost seems pissed off, though!
"How's marriage working out for you, Marg?"
"It's pretty nice, honestly. Marrying rich helps."
"What would you do in my shoes?"
"Uh, follow your heart? I know father thinks I married for wealth, but I wouldn't have picked Roberte if I didn't also see myself happy with him..."
In happier news, though, the Dowricks open up their own fish stall on the market street! Plus I finally figured out how the fish packing & filleting station works so they can start selling in bulk :D
Finley has a locked want to be best friends with Nigel again, but it’s pretty slow going. Especailly since Nigel’s never been interested in being “just friends”.
The next day, the Rudhalls all happen to pass by! Jillian greets them eagerly - Finley and Thomas are out working right now but she’s sure they’d love to see them. Would Michael and his children like to stay over for dinner?
Finley and Rose are definitely keen on each other - but I noticed they didn’t start canoodling until they were outside and away from the hopeful eyes of their parents. Neither of them are sure about the whole marriage thing…
Took Finley out for some drinks (and to catch up with his sister Marg) and man, these two! I don't think they have much chemistry, but I can't help but ship it :')
Right, that’s the Dowricks all done! The only thing I kinda missed is that Jillian has been very determinedly trying to befreind Clarissa the priest, but hasn’t quite gotten there yet.
I’m still not quite decided on what to do with Finley and Rose, I guess I’ll leave them be and see what happens. Meanwhile, I’m very excited to play Annie’s adventures overseas!
