Driftwood MMC - Year 1 - Winter - Bartly

I decided to start this rotation with the Bartlys, so they could get their business up and running since I’m sure (now that it’s Winter) other households will want to buy goods like groceries here. Artheur is busy learning the art of the salesman, but he takes some time to enjoy the snow, too.

At home, Joane, Sadie and Loreena have their hands super full caring for three toddlers and entertaining their neighbours. Luckily, they're visited by their new neighbours and Primrose is more than happy to help care for the little ones. She’s starting to look forward to becoming a mother herself.

You might be wondering who Loreena is, and why she was not included in the family portrait. She was Christofur & Sadie’s mother but, sadly, died right at the begining the the round just before little Brien grew up. I guess the stress of moving to a new place, the chill of winter and the amount of childcare she was doing was too much for her poor old bones! :(

Poor Brien’s birthday was rather over-shadowed by the family tragedy :(

Artheur gets aquainted with Emily and Rose, some of his teenage neighbours. I realised when making this post they are quite similar looking from a distance, haha! He fancies Rose and has even higher chemistry with Emily, but she came on very strong and got rejected several times!

Technically speaking, since Artheur is the heir, he needs to marry within his own station or above, but I am thinking of relaxing the marriage rules a little as they just aren’t that practical for a small village. We’ll see, there’s really no rush to marry just yet…

Poor Sadie did not have much luck in love this round. She doesn’t want to stay living with her brother forever, but to move out she needs a good match first… but the only sims in the neighbourhood who took any notice of her were women, haha.

Jillian is apparently so drunk she forgot she was straight. And married.

All in all, not a bad first round for the Bartlys! Aside from poor Loreena’s death, at least. I had a lot of fun playing them and particularly enjoyed seeing them entertain guests and play with the little ones in the main living hall. On the final day, Marion grew from a toddler to a child and the family paid their taxes in full. Not bad at all!
