Year 1 - Summer - Bouldre (Peasant Miners)
Things have been changing in the Bouldre family! Nigel’s finally aged up into a man, and his grandfather’s desperate to see him get hitched as soon as possible. Nigel’s not too excited about the prospect of matrimony though, since he prefers men. Luckily there aren’t a lot of elligible peasant girls in town anyway, so maybe he’s safe for now.
Little Leofe is old enogh now that they can bring her with them on trips to the mines. Sometimes they even let her have a go with the pick-axe.
Meanwhile, uncle Thori took Margery Dowrick on a date. She’s been pretty clear about her intention to marry rich, but Thori’s happy to show her a good time while she’s working on that…
He was more sucessful than I anticipated (and she even dropped by in the night to give them a games console, which I swapped for one of those musical shells the Dowricks sometimes fish up), but I don’t think she’s seeing much of a long term prospect, here.
Then, excitingly, Nigel found a mysterious lamp deep in the mines! I wasn’t sure whether to let them keep it, but the rules do allow for it. Nigel naturally wished for his dear mother back. (Then the two elders wished for longer lives. So hopefully they’ll stick around!)
Esther is a romance sim and was eager to meet new people. So they went out of a trip to the village green.
Sadly though, while they were there Thori caught sight of Margery and Captain Roberte together. He was horrified, then angry! Of course, attacking an officer will lead to a $5000 fine, but Thori wasn’t thinking about that in the moment. He was seeing red!
They were able to pay their bills and taxes in the end, due to the sheer amount of mining they all did. But Harald was begining to worry about his grandson’s aversion to marriage. And happy as he was to have his daughter back, she was always a wild one… would the Bouldres be okay, once he passed on?
